In Schedule 1, the police will make your job around Hyland Point as difficult as possible, with obstacles such as pesky checkpoints, random body searches, curfews after dark, and patrols around each region of town. Dare to try and complete a deal with a police officer nearby, and you may soon find yourself in handcuffs – which means bye-bye products! Yet, fighting back with the police will give you the Wanted status and start a police chase or even a manhunt.
If you’re wondering how you can get rid of the Wanted status in Schedule 1 and every way that you can escape the police, then this guide has you covered. Here’s a complete breakdown of every place you can hide or avoid the police, ways you can force them to leave you alone, and even some cheeky points beyond their reach that you can use as a last resort.
How to Get Rid of Wanted Status in Schedule 1

In Schedule 1, you as the player can receive a series of different statuses related to police interactions. These range from much easier to avoid obstacles such as body searches and investigations to more annoying interactions such as the dreaded wanted status, or the much more hectic ‘wanted dead or alive’.
Wanted statuses can be pushed up to next instances and levels. For example, a body search can result in Under Arrest, then Wanted, then Wanted Dead or Alive, depending on your actions as a player.
Once you have the Wanted or Wanted Dead or Alive status applied, the police will hunt you down. The only way to get rid of this status is to let it naturally time out, which means that you’ll need to find a way to escape the cops and buy yourself that time.
Here are all wanted statuses in Schedule 1 and the behaviors that trigger them:
All Wanted Status Levels in Schedule 1
- Investigating
- Police have been notified and are now on their way to investigate the surrounding area.
- Investigating is triggered when an NPC contacts police. This usually occurs after using your firearm in public, attacking NPCs, or being caught in the act of pickpocketing.
- Body Search
- The police will approach and search your inventory. Any prohibited items will flag criminal activity and apply the Under Arrest status.
- Body searches are usually triggered by passing through a police checkpoint, but they can also be randomly triggered by passing police on patrol throughout the city.
- Under Arrest
- The police will move towards you and try to place handcuffs. If this meter successfully fills up, you will be arrested, have all products confiscated, and be fined for your crimes.
- Wanted
- The police will chase you down and use tasers to try and stun you, which will slow your movement temporarily.
- Wanted is usually triggers by refusing or running from a body search, running away from arrest, or being violent towards cops with a melee weapon such as a bat or your fists. It can also be triggered if you are caught by police pickpocketing, dealing, or being violent towards other NPCs.
- Wanted Dead or Alive
- If you continue to escalate, the wanted status will be bumped up to wanted dead or alive. Cops will not only chase you down, but will also use deadly force to try and stop you. You can be damaged and even killed by cops during this time. If you’re killed by an officer, you will be forced to load your last save point, so be careful, as you can lose progress.
- It is usually triggered when resisting arrest for long enough or for repeated acts of violence towards police or other people with weapons. It will also be triggered if you aim your gun at an officer or shoot at them at any given point.

How to Clear the Wanted Status with Console Commands
The easiest way to get rid of the wanted status without having to interact with police further or deal with escape routes is by using console commands. With a simple toggle and right command, you can remove this status yourself at any point, or alter the wanted level as needed.
First, go to your settings for your save and toggle console commands on. Now press the ~ key and a toolbar will pop up that you can type into. Use the following commands to get your desired effect:
- Raise your wanted level: raisewanted
- Lower your wanted level: lowerwanted
- Clear your wanted level: clearwanted
While useful in some situations, if you’re looking to play through the game legit without any shortcuts, then you’ll need to use the methods below to escape the police and let the wanted status time out on its own:
How to Escape the Police in Schedule 1

The wanted status can take a little while to time out, and police will be chase you if you remain nearby. For this reason, in order to get rid of your wanted status, you will need to use or more of these methods below to escape the police until the timer reaches zero.
Only after this will the status be cleared and it will become safe for you to be out in the open again, even passing by the cops.
Run to a Nearby Property

One of the easiest and most obvious ways to escape the police is to run to any nearby properties you may have unlocked. If you’re far enough away and not within line of sight, then run inside, close the door, and wait for the timer to finish.
Be warned, though; this method is not very reliable. If police have you within their line of sight or are close enough then you won’t be able to enter your property. This means that you may been to make a run to one further away, or to rely on other methods.
There is one property that is more useful than this for others, and that would be The Docks Warehouse. It’s not really available until the later stages of the game, but once you have this property purchased, you will be able to enter through the automatic gates.
These gates will open even when the police are chasing you, and the police cannot follow you through the gates into the actual property. They can shoot through the open space and kill you before the automatic gates finish closing, though, so you’ll need to be careful.
Use a Skateboard to Outrun the Police

Another method is to simply outrun the police who are chasing you and remain far enough away that you’re out of their line of sight, causing the timer to slowly wind down to zero. As you may have guessed, skateboards come in extremely handy for this purpose, enabling you to zoom away with much more speed and easily keep moving to different sections of the city as you run from the chase.
The Golden Skateboard is the fastest skateboard in the game, but the Offroad Skateboard has the advantage of being able to skate over curbs and bumps without slowing down, making shortcuts during a police chase particularly easy. Either of these two skateboards is a good escape tool, so it mostly comes down to personal preference.
Hide in Cover Around Buildings or in Dumpsters

You can actually use the map of Hyland Point to your advantage to escape the cops. All you need to do to keep the timer for your wanted status going down is to remain out of their line of sight. This can be achieved several different ways:
- Hide behind corners or buildings
- Crouch among the bushes to obscure yourself from view
- Hide inside of dumpsters by climbing inside and closing the lid.
It’s important to know that if you’re planning to hide inside of a dumpster, there are a couple of things you’ll need to keep in mind. If any police have you in their line of sight when you attempt to hide, they will know you are inside the dumpster and arrest you. Furthermore, if you hide in a dumpster or area that is near an NPC who called the police, they will likely still find you.
For the best chance, don’t immediately hide in the first dumpster you see, but instead run or skate away for a few seconds to give yourself a lead, and then hide once you are out of police line of sight.
Use This Unreachable Police Spot for Guaranteed Safety

As a last resort, there’s also one cheesy spot on the map that can’t be reached by the police, but is very easily reached by the player. This spot is the upper-level parking lot ramp right beside where the Stash & Dash Storage Unit and Brad the dealer are located. We’ve included a map location screenshot below:

If you can’t be bothered dealing with the whole police chase thing, then you can just head right over here and wait for the timer to go down. The police will follow you to this ramp, but will not be able to go up the ramp onto the top floor themselves.
Instead, they’ll all be stuck lined up below, so just stay out of their line of sight and wait for your ‘wanted’ or ‘wanted dead or alive’ status to time out. The cops will then begin walking back to their patrol zones, enabling you to leave freely and get back to your production and dealing.
