In Stupid Never Dies, you’ll be tasked with tracking down KOM and defeating this big bad guy. Well, if you’ve finally managed to reach the final layer of the dungeon, then you will finally meet KOM – or so you think. Actually, it’s a different boss called Surtr R.S, who is also one of the Four Generals in the game.
If you’re wondering how to defeat Surtr R.S in Stupid Never Dies, this guide covers a breakdown of his attack patterns and strengths, the best Combat Styles you should prioritize for the fight, and tips for defeating the first of the Four Generals with as little problems as possible.
How to Beat Surtr R.S in Stupid Never Dies

Much like the Wyvern, which you would have previously faced, Surtr R.S uses heavy-hitting fire-based attacks. However, instead of utilizing aerial combat with a flight ability, Surtr R.S is a slow ground-based enemy with heavy melee attacks on top of his fiery blasts, very similar to the Cyclops Style.
Surtr R.S Attack Patterns & Threats

Surtr R.S’s first attack will have him jump up into the sky and take aim, highlighting an AOE in red on the arena terrain. He will then perform a spinning dive onto this spot, so be prepared to move out of the way.

Next, he has a big charge attack with flames bursting out of his back. Luckily, this one is slow and has a long charge/wind up time, so you should be able to read and dodge this one fairy easily.

Surtr R.S also has a nasty spinning fire attack that can physically hit you in the melee range multiple times, as well as generating a vortex of fire that can use extra burn damage to chip away at your health.
When Surtr R.S gets into your melee range, he can also hit you with strikes from his club and big stomping attacks.

Lastly, Surtr R.S. will also spawn additional enemies sporadically throughout the encounter. A handy tip to keep in mind is that if you defeat Surtr R.S all remaining enemies will fall as well. So, they should not be a focus.
Instead, clear them only when it is convenient, as your priority should be avoiding the AOE threats and dealing multiple attacks to Surtr R.S during his slow windups.
Best Styles for Fighting Surtr R.S
For the Surtr R.S fight, the best Combat Style options are the trusty Werewolf, and Lich. Cyclops and Harpy should be avoided unless there are no other options on the board, as they are both significantly weaker matchups.
The ideal combination for your Style Slots is both Werewolf and Lich together. This way, you can get the benefit of the Lich’s horde summons, immunity to burning terrain, and attack from range when you have space available.
Then, you can freely swap to Werewolf for doges and to make aggressive pushes with offensive combos during Surtr R. S’s sluggish movements, and switch back and forth between the two as needed.

Tips for Beating Surtr R.S in Stupid Never Dies

- Use his slow attacks as your opening – While Surtr R.S hits heavy when he makes contact with Davy, he also has slow, predictable swings and windup animations. This makes him easy to read, so focus on using these obvious windows to chain the Werewolf’s fast melee burst damage combos.
- If you find yourself caught in Surtr R. S’s close-ranged attacks, then rely on Bite and Stupid Parry – This big fella is most deadly when he launches his multi-hit spin attack at you, or if you mess up and get caught in close proximity while he’s stomping and swinging.
- Bite deals a chunk of damage to the enemy and enables you to heal back some missing HP, making it a strong survival tactic
- Stupid Parry absorbs some damage when timed properly and helps to charge more Bites, so when in double, go for Parries, reposition, and then dive in for a Bite to recover some HP before gearing up to land your next strikes.
- Lich’s horde minions can be handy for dealing with Surtr R.S’s summons – Surtr R.S summons additional enemies during this fight. Having Lich in your Style Slots is very handy for these situations, as you will essentially come prepared with your own bonus enemies. Your horde can also help deal with the extra enemies while you focus down Surtr R.S as Davy himself.
